Ingredients
- Refrigerated Biscuit Dough (16 oz)
- Breakfast Sausage (1 lb)
- All-Purpose Flour (3 tablespoons)
- Whole Milk (3 cups)
- Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Garlic Powder (1 tsp, optional)
- Onion Powder (1 tsp, optional)
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese (1 ½ cups)
- Large Eggs (4)
- Heavy Cream or Milk (¼ cup)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cut biscuit dough into quarters and place in the baking dish.
- Cook sausage in a skillet until browned, then drain excess grease.
- Sprinkle flour over sausage, stir, then whisk in whole milk and cook until thickened.
- Season the gravy, and stir in cheese until melted.
- Pour sausage gravy over biscuits, then whisk eggs and cream together and pour over casserole.
- Top with remaining cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
You can substitute turkey sausage for a leaner option.
Using room temperature eggs helps achieve better mixing.
For a crispy top, increase the oven temperature to 375°F for the last 5 minutes.
