Ingredients
- Firm tofu (14 ounces)
- Cornstarch (3 tablespoons)
- Vegetable oil or sesame oil (3 tablespoons)
- Onion (1 large, halved and thinly sliced)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Fresh ginger (1 tablespoon, grated)
- Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
- Vegetarian oyster sauce (1 tablespoon)
- Rice vinegar (1 tablespoon)
- Black pepper (1 tablespoon, freshly cracked)
- Sugar (1 teaspoon)
- Green onions (2, chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Press tofu for at least 15 minutes and cut into 1-inch cubes.
- Toss tofu with cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté tofu until golden brown.
- Add onions and sauté until softened.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
- Whisk together soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, rice vinegar, black pepper, and sugar in a bowl.
- Combine sauce with onions, then return tofu to skillet and toss to coat.
- Cook until heated through and sauce slightly thickens, then garnish with green onions.
