Description

This Blackberry Pie boasts an irresistible flavor with fresh blackberries and a hint of lemon. Easy to prepare, it’s a delightful dessert ideal for gatherings or cozy family meals.


Ingredients

  • 2 (9-inch) pie crusts, homemade or store-bought
  • 6 cups fresh blackberries
  • 7 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water


Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl until combined. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the pie crust by fitting one crust into a pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine blackberries, flour, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
  4. Carefully pour the blackberry mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Cover with the second pie crust and seal the edges. Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  6. Brush the top crust with the egg wash prepared earlier.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 85 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Cool before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter pie, adjust the sugar according to your preference.
Chill the pie crusts for 30 minutes to make them easier to handle.
