Description

These Candied Carrots are a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, made simple with just a few key ingredients. Perfect for quick dinners or as a comforting side dish, they’ll be a hit at any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound carrots peeled and sliced ½ inch thick
  • 2 cups water or enough to cover carrots
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, add the sliced carrots and enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium and cover. Simmer for 6-8 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Drain the water from the pan, keeping the carrots in it.
  3. Add the brown sugar, butter, salt, and pepper to the carrots, stirring to combine.
  4. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes until the glaze thickens.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious candied carrots.

Notes

For extra sweetness, drizzle honey on top before serving.
Feel free to add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm spice flavor.
These candied carrots can be made ahead and reheated for serving.
