- 3 cups dry rotini pasta
- 3 cups shredded swiss cheese
- 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
- 2 cups diced cooked ham
- 10.5-ounce can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 3-4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
- 1 sleeve ritz crackers, lightly crushed
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup salted butter, melted
- fresh parsley, optional for garnishing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a 9×13-inch casserole dish by spraying or lightly greasing it.
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and rinse before setting aside.
- In a large bowl, combine Swiss cheese, shredded chicken, diced ham, cream of chicken soup, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Add the cooked pasta to the filling mixture and stir to combine evenly.
- Transfer the filling mixture to the prepared baking dish and gently smooth the top without packing it down.
- If making ahead, cover tightly and store in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Before baking, let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
- To prepare the topping, crush the Ritz crackers in a bowl, leaving some larger pieces, then mix in Parmesan and drizzle with melted butter. Toss to combine.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the casserole filling.
- Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, rotating the dish halfway through to ensure even browning. Cover with foil if the topping browns too quickly.
- Garnish with parsley if desired, allow to cool slightly, and serve.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using garlic and herb Ritz crackers.
Feel free to substitute Swiss cheese with mozzarella or provolone if preferred.
