Description
Enjoy the delightful sweetness of Chocolate Peppermint Patties! This easy recipe combines creamy condensed milk, rich chocolate, and a hint of peppermint, making it the ideal homemade treat for celebrations or just a satisfying snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract
- ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 3 cups dark chocolate chips
- 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- assorted holiday sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the condensed milk, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in half of the powdered sugar at low speed, followed by the remaining powdered sugar until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
- Scoop parts of the dough using a small cookie scoop and roll them into one-inch balls. Flatten these balls into patties and place them on a baking sheet.
- Freeze the patties for 45 minutes.
- For the chocolate coating, melt the dark chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Adjust with more oil for dipping consistency if needed.
- Remove the patties from the freezer and dip each one in the melted chocolate, tapping off excess before returning them to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with holiday decorations if desired.
- Finally, freeze the coated patties for an additional 15 minutes to firm up the chocolate before serving.
Notes
Ensure the chocolate is fully melted and smooth to avoid lumps when dipping.
Feel free to mix different types of chocolate chips for a unique flavor.
These treats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
