Description

This Christmas Chex Mix combines crunchy cereals, pretzels, and sweet toppings for a delightful snack. Easy to make, it’s perfect for holiday gatherings, parties, or an afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups rice chex cereal
  • 3 cups wheat chex cereal
  • 2 cups bugles brand snack chips
  • 2 cups sourdough pretzel nibblers, snyders of hanover brand
  • 10 ounces white chocolate candy melts, ghirardelli brand used
  • 1 ¼ cups mini m&m’s candies, christmas red and green variety
  • 22 starlight peppermint candies, unwrapped and finely crushed (yields approximately ½ cup)
  • 2 tablespoons nonpareil sprinkles, red, white and green holiday blend (plus additional for optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Line two large baking pans with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine rice Chex cereal, wheat Chex cereal, Bugles, and pretzel nibblers, stirring gently to mix.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat white chocolate candy melts on high for 1 minute, stir, then continue heating in 30-second increments until melted and smooth, stirring well to avoid burning.
  • Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture and stir gently to coat evenly.
  • Add mini M&Ms, crushed peppermints, and sprinkles to the bowl, tossing gently to distribute evenly.
  • Divide the mixture between the two prepared baking pans, spreading it into an even layer. Sprinkle additional nonpareils if desired before the chocolate sets.
  • Allow the mixture to set at room temperature for 15-20 minutes until the white chocolate hardens.
  • Break apart the Chex mix and serve in a large bowl, or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Use gluten-free Chex varieties for a gluten-free version.
Store the Chex mix in an airtight container to maintain crunchiness for up to two weeks.
Feel free to customize by adding other favorite candies or nuts.
