Description

These Christmas Sugar Cookie Bars combine soft, buttery dough topped with rich cream cheese frosting, making them a perfect holiday treat for gatherings or cozy evenings. Simple to prepare, they delight with each melt-in-your-mouth bite!


Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 small eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Christmas sprinkles


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a 10-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add in the eggs, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and almond extract and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, then combine with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  • Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-30 minutes until edges are golden and center is slightly gooey.
  • Cool completely before frosting.
  • For the frosting, beat cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth.
  • Spread the frosting on the cooled cookie bars and top with Christmas sprinkles. Slice and serve.

Notes

Use vegan butter and a flax egg for a dairy-free and egg-free version.
For a healthier alternative, substitute whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour.
Store in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature or refrigerate.
