Treat your family to delicious Christmas Tree Cookies that feature a buttery flavor and a festive touch. This easy recipe combines flour, butter, and colorful sprinkles, making it perfect for the holiday season. Enjoy the simple preparation while creating a batch that will surely impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • green, red, or yellow food coloring
  • christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla. Beat until creamy.
  • Gradually add flour and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface, rolling it out to a thickness of ⅛ to ¼ inch.
  • Using a Christmas tree cookie cutter, cut out the shapes and place them on a baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  • Gather the leftover dough scraps, reroll, and continue cutting out cookies until all dough is used.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookie bottoms are lightly golden brown.
  • Transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
  • In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  • Add food coloring and swirl with a toothpick to create a colorful icing.
  • Dip the top of each cooled cookie into the icing, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Return the cookie to the cooling rack and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles.
  • Repeat with remaining cookies.
  • Allow icing to dry before stacking cookies. Store in an airtight container for up to five days.

Notes

Ensure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
Roll the dough evenly to ensure consistent baking results.
Feel free to mix and match food coloring for a more colorful decoration.
