Description
This Cilantro Lime Sauce is a vibrant blend of jalapeño, garlic, and fresh cilantro. It’s rich and creamy, making it perfect for drizzling on tacos or grilled meats, and it’s incredibly quick to prepare with minimal ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 jalapeño, cut into chunks
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 cup packed cilantro
- ½ cup greek yogurt or sour cream
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice, plus additional to taste
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt, plus additional to taste
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Place jalapeño pieces and garlic in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped, scraping the bowl as needed.
- Add the cilantro, Greek yogurt or sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and combined, scraping the bowl as necessary.
- Taste and adjust the seasonings as desired. Add additional lime juice if you would like the sauce to have a stronger lime flavor. If needed, add more salt for enhanced flavor.
- Chill for at least 4 hours before serving, allowing the flavors to develop and meld. The mayonnaise taste will disappear once chilled.
- Serve over baked or grilled chicken, fish, shrimp, steak, or pork, or drizzle over tacos, burritos, nachos, or other Mexican dishes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days.
Notes
For extra creaminess, you can substitute the Greek yogurt with sour cream or a blend of both.
Adjust the jalapeño to taste; remove seeds for less heat.
This sauce is great for meal prep and can be made ahead of time.
