- 1 cup water
- 3 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 1 ¼ cups light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon oil
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Butter a 15x10x1-inch baking sheet, line with parchment paper, and butter again.
- In a large saucepan, combine water, sugar, corn syrup, and food coloring; stir until sugar dissolves.
- Boil the mixture without stirring, monitoring with a candy thermometer until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat, add cinnamon oil carefully, and stir well.
- Pour the syrup onto the prepared baking sheet and allow it to cool for about 4 hours.
- Once hardened, dust with powdered sugar, break into pieces, and toss in more powdered sugar.
Notes
Ensure the candy thermometer is accurate for proper consistency.
Be cautious when adding cinnamon oil due to strong steam.
Keep the finished candy in a cool, dry place to maintain crunch.
