Description

These cut-out sugar cookies are a delightful treat, perfect for any occasion. With simple ingredients like butter and sugar, they become irresistibly soft and tasty. Great for baking with kids or for festive celebrations, they offer a fun way to create beautiful cookies!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cups salted butter, room temperature (two sticks)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350-degrees F., and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream the butter and sugar in a stand mixer for 2 minutes until light and fluffy, scraping sides as necessary.
  • Add vanilla extract, almond extract, and egg; mix well until fully combined.
  • Gradually add flour and baking powder, starting on low speed and increasing to medium until a thick dough forms, being careful not to over-mix.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface, rolling it to a thickness of ½ inch.
  • Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet using a spatula.
  • Bake at 350-degrees F. for 7-10 minutes until the centers slightly rise and cookies lose their gloss. Bake longer for crunchier edges if desired.
  • Remove from oven, cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Decorate with icing and sprinkles. Enjoy!

Notes

Make sure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
Do not overmix the dough to ensure soft cookies.
Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
