Description

This ham roast is a delightful centerpiece for any occasion, featuring tender, smoked ham coated with a flavorful glaze made of brown sugar and honey. It’s an easy-to-make dish that brings comfort and satisfaction to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 pound bone-in spiral-cut smoked ham
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup spicy brown mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves, or ⅛ teaspoon if using whole cloves
  • 1 cup water
  • whole cloves, optional garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F and prepare a large roasting pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  • Remove all packaging from the smoked ham and place it in the roasting pan.
  • In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, honey, mustard, salt, black pepper, and ground cloves to create the glaze.
  • Add water to the roasting pan and cover the ham tightly with aluminum foil, sealing the edges well to retain moisture.
  • Bake the ham for 1 ½ hours, or as recommended for its size. Then, remove the foil.
  • Brush the glaze over the ham, ensuring it seeps between the slices.
  • If desired, poke whole cloves into the ham for garnish. Return the ham to the oven uncovered for the final 30 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices.
  • Ensure the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F and let it rest, covered with foil, for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
Resting the ham before slicing allows the juices to redistribute for a more flavorful experience.
This recipe is perfect for holiday gatherings or special occasions.
