Description

This Key Lime Pie is a favorite dessert, known for its tangy lime flavor and creamy texture. With a simple preparation method, it combines refreshing key lime juice and creamy filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 cans (14 oz each) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3/4 cup bottled key lime juice
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
  • zest from 2 limes
  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon bottled key lime juice
  • fresh lime zest or fresh lime slices (optional garnishes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray a 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter in a medium bowl, mixing until the texture resembles wet sand. Firmly press into the pie plate to form the crust.
  3. Bake the crust for 7 minutes, then let it cool at room temperature.
  4. For the filling, mix sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, sour cream, and lime zest in a large bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and bake for 10 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes on a wire rack.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6-8 hours, or overnight.
  7. Prepare key lime whipped cream by beating heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and key lime juice until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread whipped cream over the pie or serve slices with dollops of whipped cream. Garnish with lime zest or slices if desired.
  9. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
Chilling the pie overnight enhances the taste and texture.
The pie can be made a day in advance for convenience.
