- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Halloween chocolate bars, chopped and divided
- ½ cup M&Ms, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray and parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped Halloween candy and M&Ms, reserving some for topping.
- Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan and press reserved candy into the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for best texture.
Don’t over-mix the dough after adding flour to avoid dense bars.
