Description

These Leftover Halloween Candy Cookie Bars combine chewy cookie dough with an assortment of candies, creating a nostalgic treat that’s both delightful and memorable, ideal for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Halloween chocolate bars, chopped and divided
  • ½ cup M&Ms, divided


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray and parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped Halloween candy and M&Ms, reserving some for topping.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan and press reserved candy into the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for best texture.
Don’t over-mix the dough after adding flour to avoid dense bars.
