Description

This Nutella Star Bread features rich chocolate hazelnut spread enveloped in soft, fluffy dough. Perfect for brunch or holiday celebrations, it’s visually stunning and utterly delicious!


Ingredients

  • ¼ cup water
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package instant yeast (or 2¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
  • 1 egg yolk (beaten)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  • Heat the milk, water, and butter until melted and warm (105° to 110° F).
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl.
  • Add warm milk mixture and egg, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 45-60 minutes until doubled in size.
  • Punch down, divide into 4 pieces, shape into balls, and rest for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350° F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Roll out the first dough ball, spread Nutella, and layer with the rest.
  • Cut dough into wedges and twist into a star shape.
  • Brush with beaten egg yolk and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.

Notes

For gluten-free options, use gluten-free flour blends.
Make ahead by preparing the dough the night before; refrigerate after the first rise.
