- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 package instant yeast (or 2¼ teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
- 1 egg yolk (beaten)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Heat the milk, water, and butter until melted and warm (105° to 110° F).
- Whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl.
- Add warm milk mixture and egg, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 45-60 minutes until doubled in size.
- Punch down, divide into 4 pieces, shape into balls, and rest for 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350° F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Roll out the first dough ball, spread Nutella, and layer with the rest.
- Cut dough into wedges and twist into a star shape.
- Brush with beaten egg yolk and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.
