Ingredients

  • 2 ⅔ cup chicken broth
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ⅓ cup vermicelli, or orzo
  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • Fresh Parsley, for garnish


Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine chicken broth, butter, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika, stirring until it simmers. Reduce heat to low.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the vermicelli and cook until golden brown, being careful not to overcook it.
  3. Stir in the long grain white rice and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes.
  4. Pour the warm broth mixture into the skillet with the rice and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, remove the cover and mix in 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon of parsley. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until all the broth is absorbed.
  6. Remove the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve.

Notes

You can substitute orzo for vermicelli if preferred.
Garnish with more fresh parsley for added flavor.
Make sure not to stir too much once the rice is added to maintain the fluffy texture.
