Description

This Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy combines succulent beef patties with a rich mushroom-onion gravy. It’s an easy, comforting meal perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ medium onion finely diced, about ¾ cup
  • 1 medium egg
  • ½ cup panko or breadcrumbs of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • ½ medium onion finely sliced, about 1 – 1 ½ cups
  • 8 ounces whole mushrooms sliced thick
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 ½ cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, ½ diced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently mix until just combined, then shape into 4 tightly packed oval patties, pressing firmly to avoid cracks.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly undercooked.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.

Notes

Ensure the patties are uniformly shaped for even cooking.
Don’t overcrowd the pan during cooking; work in batches if necessary.
