  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tbsp)
  • zest of 1 lemon (optional)
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  • Pat the shrimp dry and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and the olive oil. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes until pink on one side.
  • Flip the shrimp, add the garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are opaque.
  • Pour in the white wine or chicken broth along with the lemon juice, scraping up browned bits. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the remaining butter and lemon zest, stirring to create a sauce. Toss in the parsley and combine well.
  • Serve hot over cooked pasta or with crusty bread.

Notes

For extra flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice and fresh parsley.
