- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1½ tsp salt, or to taste
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper optional
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- ½ cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mustard
- coleslaw
- cheddar cheese, shredded
- shredded brisket
- brioche buns or tortillas optional
Instructions
- Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and prepare a spice blend by mixing paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using) in a small bowl.
- Coat the brisket evenly with the spice mixture. For better flavor, let it rest for 30-60 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the brisket for 2-3 minutes on each side until nicely browned.
- Transfer the seared brisket to the slow cooker.
Notes
For best results, allow the brisket to marinate in the spice rub overnight.
Adjust the cayenne pepper based on your spice preference.
