Slow Cooker Beer Brats bring together the rich flavors of bratwurst and caramelized onions in a comforting and easy dish. Perfect for gatherings or a quick family dinner, these easy-to-make brats simmered in beer will please any crowd!

- 10 bratwurst sausages
- 2 large white onions thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
- ¼ cup whole grain mustard
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 12 oz beer
- 10 hoagie rolls for serving
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Brown the bratwurst sausages until well-seared.
- Transfer the browned brats to the bottom of a 6-quart or larger slow cooker.
- Add the remaining butter and sliced onions to the skillet. Sauté until the onions are caramelized.
- Layer the caramelized onions over the brats in the slow cooker. Then, add the mustard, minced garlic, and beer, pouring it around the brats.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the brats are cooked through.
- Serve the brats on toasted hoagie rolls and enjoy immediately. Alternatively, keep warm until ready to serve.
Notes
For extra flavor, try using flavored beer, such as a stout or lager.
Feel free to add sliced bell peppers for additional texture and taste.
To toast hoagie rolls, simply place them under the broiler for a minute before serving.
