Description

Taco Pie offers an unforgettable blend of savory flavors and textures. With layers of ground beef, refried beans, and melty cheese, this dish is an effortless choice for a comforting dinner that the whole family will enjoy.


Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch deep-dish pie crust unbaked
  • 1/2 cup refried beans
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion or 1/4 cup finely diced yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup chunky salsa
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips or fritos
  • garnish options: fresh cilantro, sliced lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced jalapeño, sour cream, hot sauce


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Place the unbaked pie crust in a pie dish if not already done and poke the bottom with a fork.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat and drain excess grease.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning, dried minced onion, water, and salsa; simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and fold in half of the cheese.
  • Spread the refried beans in a single layer at the bottom of the pie crust.
  • Top with the cooked beef mixture followed by crushed tortilla chips or Fritos, and the remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Add taco garnishes if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils.
Let the pie cool before slicing to ensure clean cuts for serving.
