- 40 saltine crackers
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- optional: ¾ cup white chocolate chips, holiday sprinkles and/or chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Line a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with parchment paper, ensuring a ½ inch edge.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the sheet without overlapping.
- In a small pot, combine butter and brown sugar, bringing the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, cook for 3 minutes until the mixture reaches a deep caramel color, stirring constantly.
- Immediately pour caramel over the saltines, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 5 to 6 minutes until bubbly and crackers appear to float.
- Carefully remove from oven and use a knife or spatula to straighten any shifted crackers.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let them sit to melt; return to the oven if necessary.
- If using, sprinkle white chocolate chips on top as well.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly and swirl white chocolate. Add chopped nuts or holiday sprinkles if desired.
- Allow to cool completely, placing in the fridge to speed up the process if needed.
- Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!

You can customize toppings with your favorite nuts or sprinkles.
For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet.
