Description

This Toffee Saltine Cracker is a delightful treat that combines the crunchiness of saltines with a luscious toffee topping. Made with simple ingredients like butter, brown sugar, and chocolate chips, this snack is perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a quick snack or a sweet addition to your dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • optional: ¾ cup white chocolate chips, holiday sprinkles and/or chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Line a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with parchment paper, ensuring a ½ inch edge.
  • Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the sheet without overlapping.
  • In a small pot, combine butter and brown sugar, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  • Once boiling, cook for 3 minutes until the mixture reaches a deep caramel color, stirring constantly.
  • Immediately pour caramel over the saltines, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 5 to 6 minutes until bubbly and crackers appear to float.
  • Carefully remove from oven and use a knife or spatula to straighten any shifted crackers.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let them sit to melt; return to the oven if necessary.
  • If using, sprinkle white chocolate chips on top as well.
  • Spread melted chocolate evenly and swirl white chocolate. Add chopped nuts or holiday sprinkles if desired.
  • Allow to cool completely, placing in the fridge to speed up the process if needed.
  • Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

You can customize toppings with your favorite nuts or sprinkles.
For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet.
Ensure that the caramel reaches the correct color for the best flavor.
