Description

This Apple Slab Pie features a big-batch of tender spiced apples in a flaky crust, ideal for gatherings and creating lasting memories with every bite.


Ingredients

  • Powdered Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Milk
  • Cornflake Crumbs
  • Medium Apples
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Egg
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Crisco (Shortening)
  • Salt
  • Egg Yolk
  • Milk


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a 10 x 15 x 1 sheet pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, Crisco, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk egg yolk with milk until smooth.
  • Combine egg mixture with dry ingredients to form dough.
  • Roll out the larger dough portion and place it in the prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle cornflake crumbs over the dough.
  • Mix sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon, then layer them on top of the crust.
  • Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the apple filling; cut slits for steam to escape.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Cool the pie and drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
Prepare the dough ahead of time for easier assembly.
Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days.
